Does everything we do glorify God? Should it? Are there specific things we consider to glorify God and things that do not give God glory? Now I am not talking about sin. Sin does not give God glory, by any means. When I say “things that do not give God glory” I do not mean sin, I mean the everyday areas of our life that we do not think about as ways we honor God.
What I am trying to get at is if you paint a picture of a tree, are you glorifying God through that? The way you treat people in every situation, do you glorify God through that? Do you assign certain tasks (like singing praise songs, praying, reading the Bible) as the only things that bring Glory to God?
Let me show you the facts, and then you can draw the conclusion yourself.
If we are saved by God then we are a new creation: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Which means we are called to be Holy in all that we do: “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” 1 Peter 1:15
So if we make two categories; one for things we do that Glorify God and one for things we do that do not Glorify God, what does that make us? The harsh reality is Lukewarm (Revelation 3:16).
What I am saying is that it is time that we give God glory in everything we do. Now we might not see it as giving glory to God, but who are we to determine what gives God glory and what doesn’t? You might say, how is me making a song about lasagna giving glory to God? I believe that if we live our lives doing everything with the right heart, a heart that is focused on trying to be as much like our Father’s heart as possible, then our entire lifestyle is honoring to God.
Which brings me to one of the purposes of this post. This post is serving as an introduction to my mission statement for this blog, as well as my life. My goal of this blog, and the reason I live, is “To Glorify God with all that He has given me, and to trust Him with everything else. “
Soli Deo gloria
