“Today you are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
Dr. Seuss is definitely on to something here.
You are you. You are yourself. Therefore, be yourself.
Do the things you like to do.
Be quirky.
Collect stamps.
Be weird.
Wear two different shoes.
Be funny.
Wear crazy styled clothes.
Be shy.
Eat ketchup and cottage cheese.
Be intentional.
Do the things you enjoy doing. Break a societal norm (or two). Break a stereotype. Get out of your comfort zone.
Do not let the fear of what people think cripple you from doing what you want to do. After all, does their opinion really carry any weight unless you allow it to bring you down?
And if someone tells you that they are thinking about doing something that seems like a crazy form of self expression or something that is the opposite of what they would normally do, be supportive of them. Encourage them. Do not be the person who squanders another person’s creativity or self expression.
There is one important thing that is foundational when expressing yourself:
Make sure that what you are doing does not go against what it means to live a Godly, Christ-centered life.
If you do everything in your life with this mindset that Christ is at the center, there is no reason that you cannot express yourself anyway you want because everything you do will be to honor God.
Augustine sums it up wonderfully when he says,
“Love God and do as you please.”
Soli Deo gloria

Great insight! Quoting your favorite movie, Aladdin….”Beeeee yourself!”
