Part 3: Be Love

[In this series "My Tattoo's and You" each post will be about what that week's specific tattoo means to me and hopefully it will mean something to you as well. Thank you for stopping by!]

Be Love.  What does that even mean?  I have to admit that I copied this tattoo design when I saw Jason Mraz get a similar one on an episode of L.A. Ink many moons ago.  I tweaked the design a bit and it has a different meaning, but it was his concept that sparked my attention.

This was also my first tattoo that was not just words, but symbols as well.  It looks like this:

So lets get down to it.  The words Be Love have significant meaning, but this meaning comes through a process.  Firstly, God is Love.  We see this in 1 John 4:8 “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love.”  Secondly, we are called to act as God and as Jesus.  I would encourage you to read what Jesus has to say in John 15:10-14.  So when we put these two things together we see that we are called to act like someone who is the definition of Love.

Also, when we say that we want to “Be Love” that is different than if we were just “doing” acts of Love.  Because when we are “doing” something, then there is a time when we are not “doing” that thing.  But if we “are” something, then no matter what I do I am “being” Love in all situations.  Just like I “am” Christian Shultz.  No matter what I do, I will always be Christian Shultz.  It is just the same with being Love.

So no matter what we do or what situation we are in, remember to Be Love.

Soli Deo gloria
